Hi
We bought Ness Dene in 2015 and spent 18 months renovating, restoring and landscaping it to make it a place we love to be. We had never done anything like this before and wouldn’t have taken on this project if it hadn’t been for our instant love of Shaldon and Devon.
What do we love?
- Ness Dene is a detached property in a quiet location but is just a few minutes walk from the sea
- Shaldon is beautiful with everything you need within walking distance; restaurants, parks, pubs, cafe’s and beaches. Even a zoo less than 10 minute walk from the house.
- There is the cutest passenger ferry from Shaldon across to Teignmouth which has even more shops, pubs and fantastic restaurants (you must try the crab shack)
- Shaldon and most of Devon is very dog friendly with all the pubs I can think of welcoming well behaved dogs
Teignmouth has a train station with links to other coastal towns and Exeter. As well as the passenger ferry to Teignmouth and the excellent rail links there are many buses and taxis easily available. So, if you want to you can leave the car behind.
Just remember that Shaldon is on a steep hill so it can be an exercising walk back. However, if you want to take the car then there is a bridge across to Teignmouth with links to Newton Abbot, Dawlish and Exeter. Or stay on the Shaldon side for Torquay, Paignton, Brixham and Dartmouth.
It will be a couple of years before we can move in properly so until then we visit whenever we can and let it out to nice people when we can’t be there. The people at Discovery Holiday Homes manage the lettings for us and Steph, our housekeeper, keeps it in tip top condition for our guests. We just ask that guests help Steph by treating the house as they would treat their own home. And have a lovely time!
